MAITLAND, Fla. (October 3rd, 2024) - Each year the Modern Widows Club (Movement for Widow Care) presents the Legacy Award to individuals or organizations that exemplify extraordinary dedication to empowering widows and uplifting their communities on a global scale.

Recipients of this prestigious honor demonstrate unparalleled excellence, embodying the highest virtues of nobility, humility, compassion and resilience. They are paragons of heroic leadership, consistently going above and beyond in their service to others. Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to making a profound difference in the lives of widows and their communities sets them apart as true beacons of hope and inspiration.

“We are honored to recognize Deborah, with this national award,” said Modern Widows Club Founder Carolyn Moor. “The presentation will be made at a luncheon on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Heathrow Country Club in Heathrow, Florida.”

Deborah is COO of the AmFund- American Fundraising Foundation, a national organization based in Maitland, Florida and Administrator of the American Fundraising Educational Foundation, a Federally recognized 501(c)3 organization.   She oversees funding support for over 700 nonprofit organizations across the country. AmFund, with its tagline “We Fund Your Cause,” has raised nearly $60 million for various charitable initiatives.

“It is truly a privilege to be honored with this recognition. I know that luncheon seating is limited, but I hope those who are unable to attend will consider making a direct donation to this wonderful cause,” Deborah said. “I had no idea there are so many widows in their 20s and 30s with children still at home. No matter the age, the loss of a spouse is real, and we need to care for those who are struggling to find footing in their new reality,” she continued.

Deborah’s career began in the creative hub of Hollywood’s cinematic industry, where she gained recognition as one of the leading creators of the iconic “Who Shot JR” advertising campaign for Panavision.

She later transitioned into the highly competitive world of real estate redevelopment, where she continued to demonstrate her strategic prowess. She then found her passion in nonprofit organizations.  Her deep understanding of the challenges faced by nonprofit organizations in securing funding and navigating grant cycles led to her being named Fundraiser of the Year by Nonprofit Pro in 2020. During the pandemic, when nonprofits were forced to pivot to virtual events, Deborah spearheaded the development of educational programs, digital platforms, and production tools that enabled organizations to thrive despite the rapidly changing landscape.

“The date of this special event falls on my birthday and the greatest gift I could receive is to know that through our donations, someone’s grief and hardship will be lessened. Please join me in supporting them,” Deborah concluded.

Deborah has been a widow since December 1, 2022, following the passing of her husband of 25 years and is a resident of Lake Mary, Florida.
