American Fundraising Foundation Distributes Over $750,000 in Unrestricted Funds to Support Nonprofits

MAITLAND, Fla. (February 1, 2021) – The American Fundraising Foundation (AmFund) announced it has distributed over $750,000 to nonprofit organizations during 2020 and expects to triple that amount in 2021. In addition, AmFund provided over $150,000 for in-kind services at no cost to their partner organizations.

“Last year was unlike any other for nonprofit organizations,” said Deborah Marshall, Chief Operating Officer of the American Fundraising Foundation. “The extraordinary challenges they faced continue even now. It was our honor as a 501(c)3 nonprofit ourselves, to expand our support to help meet the needs.”

In 2018 and 2019 AmFund distributed nearly $2 million each year to its partner organizations, but the pandemic created a ripple effect in the nonprofit world that required new methods of fundraising.

As a result, AmFund did what many nonprofits found necessary in 2020 – they pivoted from their standard sponsorship of in-person events to offering educational resources to select nonprofit organizations struggling to figure out how to fundraise amidst a pandemic.

They also created a VIP (Very Important Purpose) virtual auction and an electronic platform for virtual and hybrid events all at no cost to the nonprofits. They even expanded their financial support by adding a two-cycle grant program now known as the Gold Pear Grants.

“Looking forward, we anticipate that 2021 will be marked by hybrid events – smaller gatherings with a virtual component added to it and larger-scale gatherings in the third quarter. We are already receiving applications for consideration from nonprofits that are scheduling events for 2021 and early 2022,” Marshall said.

The American Fundraising Foundation, a GuideStar Platinum-rated 501(c)3 nonprofit, has distributed over 38 million dollars to other service-providing nonprofits over the course of the past 20 years. It was recognized as the 2020 Fundraiser of the Year by Nonprofit PRO and in January received Top-Rated status from GreatNonprofits.

About the American Fundraising Foundation

Each year, the American Fundraising Foundation (AmFund) carefully chooses organizations to support through sponsorship of events, unrestricted grant distribution, virtual silent auctions, and other programs to raise much-needed unrestricted funds for the important mission of those organizations.

AmFund was recognized in 2020 by Nonprofit PRO as Fundraiser of the Year. It is also recognized with the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency and since 1999 has distributed more than $38 million for worthy causes. In January 2021 it was among an elite group being named a Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits.

AmFund’s signature silent auctions featuring once-in-a-lifetime experiences, that are good for three years with no blackout dates, are presented at organizations’ special events - drawing admiration, praise and excitement as the entire process elevates the event in the eyes of patrons, board members and the community. This year, it introduced AmFund VIP, a virtual silent auction that is becoming the “go-to” fundraising option for nonprofits. New in 2020 was the added benefit of the AmFund electronic bidding platform that offers exceptional tools to heighten fundraising opportunities – all at no cost to AmFund’s chosen partners.

Leveraging more than two decades of fundraising experience, AmFund provides expert training on a wide variety of topics and offers subject matter expertise through its Speaker’s Bureau for groups ranging in size from 12 to 500.
