Deborah Roberts Named Community Partner of the Year

By Winter Park Rotary – Raising $29,197 in Virtual Event

MAITLAND, Fla. (June 29, 2021) – The American Fundraising Foundation (AmFund) made a big check presentation to the Winter Park Rotary last night in the amount of $29,197 as a result of The Rotary Chili for Charity benefit held earlier this year. Making the presentation were the founders of AmFund, Wade West, Barbara West and AmFund Senior Development Director, Deborah Roberts. After the check presentation, Bryan Thomas, President of Winter Park Rotary said, “That’s not all folks. We also have a presentation we would like to make to Deborah Roberts of AmFund. She worked so closely with us as our partner in fundraising, we are recognizing her as the Community Partner of the Year.”

In accepting the award, Roberts praised the Rotary for its support of the community and said, “Thank you for this recognition, it truly takes a team to create such a successful event. We have exceptional talent at AmFund and the opportunity to raise money for worthy organizations like Winter Park Rotary is my greatest passion.”

The annual Chili for Charity event was virtual, utilizing the new AmFund VIP (Very Important Purpose) Signature Platform featuring AmFund’s Trips of a Lifetime to help increase donations. Rotarian were encouraged to achieve 100% participation in giving through the bidding platform by purchasing packages from supporting restaurants, (to host dinner parties), bidding on a variety of items, including AmFund Trips of a Lifetime, or by making direct donations. It resulted in the most successful fundraising event ever held by Winter Park Rotary.

“We are honored to support Winter Park Rotary” AmFund’s Founder, Wade West said as he shared a little bit of the history of how he and Barbara West left their careers in broadcasting to focus entirely on raising money for nonprofit organization through the establishment of the American Fundraising Foundation. “The recognition you have given to Deborah Roberts is deeply appreciated. That level of commitment is important to us for all the organizations we support. We are so proud of the work Rotarians do to help our community.”

About the American Fundraising Foundation

Each year, the American Fundraising Foundation (AmFund) carefully chooses organizations to support through sponsorship of events, unrestricted grant distribution, silent auctions, virtual events and other programs to raise much-needed unrestricted funds for the important mission of those organizations.

AmFund was recognized in 2020 by Nonprofit PRO as Fundraiser of the Year. It is also recognized with the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency and since 1999 has distributed nearly $40 million for worthy causes. In January 2021, it was among an elite group being named a Top Nonprofit.

AmFund’s signature silent auctions featuring once-in-a-lifetime trips, that are good for three years with no blackout dates, are presented at organizations’ special events - drawing admiration, praise and excitement as the entire process elevates the event in the eyes of patrons, board members and the community. Last year, it introduced AmFund VIP, a virtual silent auction that is becoming the “go-to” fundraising option for nonprofits to expand their reach beyond an in-person event. Also new in 2020, was the added benefit of the AmFund electronic bidding platform that offers exceptional tools to heighten fundraising opportunities – all at no cost to AmFund’s chosen partners.

Leveraging more than two decades of fundraising experience, AmFund provides expert training on a wide variety of topics and offers subject matter expertise through its Speaker’s Bureau for groups ranging in size from 12 to 1,000.
