Our very own Co-Founder Barbara West speaks on behalf of Florida Hospital's innovative one time breast cancer treatment. Intraoperative radiation treatment (IORT) is a one-time procedure for breast-cancer patients. Administered when a lumpectomy is performed, IORT replaces a traditional six-week course of radiation treatments. It is much less expensive than the traditional treatment and to date has been just as effective.
